NEPAL

APRIL 2025 UPDATE

Greetings to you all from Nepal, This will be our final newsletter to you, our time here has been shorter than usual, time has flown by, but much has been achieved.

Building continues

The workers start at Dawn and good progress has been made with the classrooms. Schools (throughout Nepal) are currently having exams, so the children are working hard. Can you believe nursery classes also have exams, they have to pass the Alphabet! All day they chant A, B, C, at the top of their voices! We have to go along with Nepali methods, often with great frustration. We had a crazy day when a group of thirty-two children had a cooking day --- momo’s --- steamed suet pastry, with a filling of vegetables. Everything was done on the floor --- an open fire --- chopping veg, mixing flour --- mess everywhere, but all enjoyed. Definitely no hygiene certificate required.!!! The small children love the slides and rockers that have been provided on this trip. Terry has found a new vocation, looking after the nursery classes!!!! It is a joy to see all so happy and experiencing something new to them.

Water Projects:

All completed --- many happy households. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, to the people who have supported the projects. On this trip, fifteen families have been provided with water and several pumps have been repaired. Momo Day

Church

The people are committed and worship from their hearts. No-one stands still, all moving with the flow of the music. Men one side, ladies another, all sitting on the floor, cat or dog may wander in, ladies feed their babies. Throughout it all, there is joy, joy, joy. Unusually --- for Nepal --- the service can start on time, but definitely no finishing time! Lately, they have been singing well known English hymns --- in Nepali of course --- which is really moving.

Eye Camp

Our final project. This should have happened weeks ago, but sadly, the village bus went over a cliff, three people died and many injured. The village has been in mourning, so it has been inappropriate to hold a camp there. However, a day after arriving in Kathmandu, an alternative camp has taken place. It was held 4,600’ in the hills --- higher than Ben Nevis….. round and round, up and up we went, for almost three hours on a precarious mainly gravel road. The camp was held in the small school, adults (mainly uneducated) and children attended. All were needy and poor. Cases of glaucoma and cataracts and a need for glasses has been detected, treatment will be given at the eye hospital in Kathmandu. As often happens, we are both affected greatly by the life and conditions, in which some people have to live. On this occasion, it was the arrival --- in a wheelbarrow --- of an elderly lady coming to the camp, having been pushed up the hills for hours.

We sincerely thank all of you for your prayers, commitment, interest and support for our work here. We have much to share on our return. We expect to be in UK around mid --- April, until then, may Grace and Peace be with you.

Our love and Blessings from far away.
